The Youth Power team of the school titled ‘Kolaahal’, won the second runner up award along with AIS Mayur Vihar, at the grand finale of the 16th Youth Power, while also winning the awards for Best Documentation and Best Mentor Teacher. Youth Power is a year long annual ethical leadership and social awareness competition organised under the aegis of The Global Times.
Team Kolaahal led by Ragini Singhal, (XI) along with Harleen Kaur (XI), Bhavya Pathak (XI) and Utkarsh Sahni (XI) conducted various activities to raise awareness about harmful effects of noise pollution. They created a prototype of a soundproof tile that can absorb sound and thus cut down noise levels significantly. They created awareness about ‘Good noise’ and ‘Bad noise’, conducted silent rally and organised silent disco as well. They also created 5 minute documentaries on noise pollution wherein they explored the effects of noise pollution on wildlife. To give a better understanding to their peers about how soft, smooth or hard surfaces, building and infrastructure materials around us affect the noise levels, the team conducted a ‘Material Challenge’.
The event was graced by IPS Preeti Yadav, ADDL. SP (IPS) / DCP, Police Commissionerate, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF along with principals and other dignitaries of all the schools of Amity Group. The unique competition for sensitizing youth was judged by the eminent jury comprising Ms. Sumitra Goenka, entrepreneur and social activist, and Mr. Steve Rocha, Chief Visionary and Identity Leader at PRATYeK.
