Guidance and counselling

The Counselling Department at AIS, Belapur, Navi Mumbai helps every child reach his/her highest potential so the child can make a mark. The school has a trained counselling psychologist – school counsellor and special educator who looks after our caring and inclusive learning environment. Students are provided with a perfect system which promotes holistic development. The approach to counselling is an on-going process of prevention and intervention services. The counsellor regularly meets the students and also collaborates with our teachers and parents to suggest her feedback. She identifies children’s social and emotional challenges and helps them resolve the problem areas if at all noticed. The individual and group counselling sessions are conducted on a need basis.  

The school ensures the emotional and social well-being of students. For this purpose, the Counselling Department conducts Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programmes for our students. We focus on developing five core skills of SEL: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making skills. Emotional awareness, self-love, emotional regulation, building friendships, conflict resolution, peer pressure, bullying prevention, and optimism are also extensively covered under the SEL sessions. 

The Department also conducts workshops for parents and training sessions for teachers at regular intervals. 

• A workshop on ‘New Age Parenting’ was conducted on 8 May 2023 for the parents of Classes 7 to 9. 
• A teacher training programme titled ‘Intensive Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Programme’ was conducted by team Rubaroo on 16 May and 17 May 2023.
