The Youth Power team of the school titled ‘Riwaaz Revive’, won the Jury Special Mention Award along with AIS Gurugram 46 at the grand finale of the 16th Youth Power, while also winning the award for Best Creative Communication Act. Youth Power is a year long annual ethical leadership and social awareness competition organised under the aegis of The Global Times.
Team Riwaaz Revive led by Yusra Zehra (XI) along with Anoushka Sahney, Lavishya Joy Banerjee and Shlaghyaa Singh all from Class XI, conducted activities to raise awareness about the Heritage of Lucknow. They spotted several unaddressed issues related to historical monuments and filed an RTI to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Ministry of Culture. It focused on issues such as budget allocations for restoration versus actual spending, encroachments and illegal construction near heritage sites, policies on public involvement in restoration and preservation, adoption schemes like ‘Adopt a Heritage’, etc. The team created puzzle based on historical monuments in Lucknow like Bara Imambara, Chota Imambara, Bhool Bhulaiya, Rumi Darwaza etc. To understand and preserve Lucknow’s rich legacy of making attar (natural perfume), the team also organised an attar-making workshop in collaboration with CSIR-IITR (Indian Institute of Toxicology Research), Lucknow. The event was graced by IPS Preeti Yadav, ADDL. SP (IPS) / DCP, Police Commissionerate, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF along with principals and other dignitaries of all the schools of Amity Group. The unique competition for sensitizing youth was judged by the eminent jury comprising Ms. Sumitra Goenka, entrepreneur and social activist, and Mr. Steve Rocha, Chief Visionary and Identity Leader at PRATYeK.
