Every Amity school is abuzz with events, activities, and achievements. it would not be an exaggeration to say that it’s an entire world of our own! Our students are avid readers and writers who love to express themselves through essays, stories, poems, and articles. Back in 2007, our visionary Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, made these two keen observations, and conceptualized an independent registered weekly newspaper, the first of its kind in the country, for her students - our very own The Global Times.
"Launched in the year 2007 by Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF, it is the only newspaper in India that completed over 15 years of student journalism, featuring news, opinions, stories, articles, educational posters, editorials, poems of students from nursery to college within the age group of 6-21."
The student newspaper organizes several activities throughout the year, like ‘Making-a-Newspaper’ Contest which introduces school students to different nuances of journalism in a competitive atmosphere and ‘Youth Power’ that encourages them to take up various social causes and create awareness on the same.
The seed of thought for The Global Times was ignited by our far-sighted Chairperson, whose unwavering love and faith in the potential of her students sparked this incredible journey. It not only empowered them to take full responsibility for the newspaper, but also ignited a fire of creativity, leadership, and collaboration among them. As the Chairperson so eloquently puts it.
“In the ink of our thoughts, we write the story of who we are and who we are becoming, for the voices of students are the heartbeat of every school community.”

reinforcing the idea that student voices are the heart of the school community. This encouragement spurred the super journos of Amity to venture into a new and inspiring realm of expression, learning, and self-management in terms of ideation, designing, reportage, and graphics. What began as a small initiative in 2007 has reinvented itself alongside the times.
