Sanchita Tiwari, student of Amity International School Vasundhara 1, hands over the ceremonial torch of the inaugural edition of ‘Khelo India School Games’ held at Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium on January 31, 2018. Sanchita is an archer who has represented India at prestigious national and international competitions and won medals including bronze medal at Youth Archery World Championship 2017 in Argentina.

Under the able guidance of Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Groups of Schools and RBEF, over 15 teams from Amity Schools participated in the CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition from which three brilliant teams qualified for the National Level held in the month of February 2017. Team AIS Vasundhara Sector 1, brought laurels to the school and the whole Amity family by bagging the Championship Trophy at the national Level exhibition held from February 8-10, 2017 at New Delhi.
AMITY CELEBRATES ITS JUNIOR ANNUAL DAY ON THE THEME ‘PARIVARTAN’

Amity International School, Vasundhara, Sec 1, celebrated its junior annual day on the theme ‘Parivartan’- The change within. Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Groups of Schools and RBEF presided over the occasion. The chief guest of the day was Hitesh J Rajpal, IFS, Regional Passport Officer, Delhi while Swati Maliwal, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) was the guest of honour. School Principal Valambal Balachandran announced the achievements of the school in national and international arena for the session 2016-17. The cultural fiesta was a dance drama by Amitians, professing the importance of change. The young artist weaved a dramatic story of a grandmother’s interaction with kids through ‘Dadi Maa’ and ‘Eklavya Dance’. Taking the country of the pinnacle of digital success was the highlight of the ‘Book, Robo and Techno Dance’. The grand finale song captivated the hearts of the audience. The function concluded with the school song and National Anthem.
AIS VAS 1 CONDUCTS AN INTER-AMITY MENTAL MATH QUIZ COMPETITION

Under the aegis of Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Amity International School, Vasundhara, Sec-1, conducted an Inter Amity Mental Math Quiz Competition for the students of Class IV on January 20, 2017. Principal Valambal Balachandran accorded a warm welcome to the participating teams. The event was held in two groups of four teams. The first and second achievers of both groups took part in the final round. Varioys rounds like Computation, Practical Application, Problem Solving, Audio stories, rapid Fire etc kept the audience engrossed. Chief Guest S N Chibber, HOD, Mathematics, CBSE applauded the remarkable event and commended the victorious teams of the school who secured the first position but gave away the prize to Amity International School Sec -6 Vasundhara. The second position was bagged by Amity International School Sec 46, Gurgaon.

Amity International School Sec 1, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad acknowledge the great work done by its school founder president Dr Ashok K Chauhan on his birthday celebrated as Founder’s day. The meritorious students were felicitated for their brilliant performance in academics and co-curricular activities for the academics year 2015-16. The school toppers and subject toppers of class XII were felicitated with special plaques. The students of class X who scored 10 CGPA were awarded with trophies. Scholarships and honor badges were awarded to the top five achievers from classes V to XI and scholar badges were given to the students who scored 90 percent and above in academics. Trophies were also awarded to the subject toppers of classes V to XI and also to ones who performed extremely well in co-curricular activities. The function ended with rendition of the school song and the national anthem.

With the blessing of Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson of RBEF and Amity School, young archer Tanya Bansal and Sanskar Garg of class IX of the school proved their mettle in 2nd CBSE National Archery Competition held at Sunbeam School, Mughal Sarai. Tanya Bansal won three gold medals in U-19 compound Boys’ category. School principal Valambal Balachandran congratulated the participants and Coach Lokesh Chand their incredible performance.

Under the guidance of Dr Amita Chauhan, Chairperson of RBEF and Amity International Schools, Amity International School Sec 1, Vasundhara hosted a vocal music recital by renowned artist Sunanda Sharma, under the aegis of Spic Macay. Various schools from across Delhi and NCR attended the event. The artists were accorded a traditional welcome and the programme commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp. School principal Valambal Balachandran emphasized on the significance of Indian classical music and culture amongst students, lying in its various classical dance forms, music, yoga, craft and other aspects. After a performance by the renowned singer, an interactive session was also held with the students. Dr Amita Chauhan blessed the students and encouraged them to nurture fondness for their culture and heritage.

In keeping with Chairperson of RBEF and Amity International Schools Dr Amita Chauhan’s vision to nurture talent and provide a forum for cultural exchange, students of Amity International School Sec 1, Vasundhara participated in an International Conference Young Researchers on Natural Sciences hosted by Amity University, Dubai. The event was inaugurated by the chairperson Dr Amita Chauhan. The topic for the conference was “Sustainable Development” and students of AIS Vas-1 presented their POC (Proof of Concept) on Generating Electricity from Railway Tracks. 32 Delegations from Hungary, Slovania, Germany and India presented their projects. Students of AIS Vas-1 were awarded with Gold Medals and certificates for their active involvement in finding scientific solutions to environmental and developmental challenges. They also visted Amity International School, Abu Dhabi to interact with the students. School principal Valmbal Balachandran congratulated the vice principal Veena Mishra,who mentored the students for this prestigious event.

Amity International School, Sec-1 Vasundhara, organized an Inter School Competition titled “Rangavali 2016”. Students from more than 20 schools from Delhi and NCR took part in the event. In her speech, school principal Valmbal Balachandran motivated the participants to make creative designs to show the balance between intellect and emotion. Heritage has been an integral part of the curriculum in Amity and chairperson of RBEF and Amity Group of schools, Dr Amita Chauhan is eager to inculcate in students respect for our heritage and culture. The theme was the Heritage of the states of Sikkim, Bihar and Goa. The rolling trophy was won by AIS Sec-1 Vsaundhara but being the host school, it was given to AIS Sec 43, Gurgaon.

A Mock Drill was conducted at Amity International School; Sec 1 Vasundhara on Sept 29 under the supervision of Vinay Bhadur Srivastava, Chief Officer at Amity University, Noida. The purpose was to educate students about building evacuation, assembling procedure, and fire and earthquake safety measures. As soon as the alarm hooter rang out, the students were immediately escorted by their teachers to the playground area. Students were advised not to panic in case of any disaster. Keeping all the safety measures in mind and carrying them out methodically, the entire building was successfully cleared within a span of 1 minute 10 Seconds. Chairperson of RBEF and Amity International Schools, Dr Amita Chauhan believes that humanitarian involvement should include efforts to help affected people. School Principal Ms. Valambal Balachandran gave valuable tips and suggestions on how to prevent casualties during such disasters.

A Competitive spirit soared through the playground area as students of Amity International School (AIS) battled it out in the Inter Amity Archery Competition held at AIS Sec-1 Vasundhara. The commemoration of the event was done by Col Ahluwalia, senior consultant of Sports. A current current of excitement buzzed through as the names of the winners were announced. In the Indian Round Event, Dhruv Bagga of AIS, Noida won two medals in the boys’ category while Muskan Gupta of AIS,Noida and Varsha of AIS Sec-46, Gurgaon won gold in the girls’ group. In the Recurve Round, Nakshtra Rajput and Tanya Bansal of the host school won two gold medals each in the boys’ and Girls’ category respectively. School principal Valambal Balachandran applauded all the students and coaches for their incredible performance.

Amity International School Sec-1 Vasundhara organized its annual science exhibition “Vasudha 2016-17”themed on “Innovation for Sustainable Development “to promote and nurture scientific temperaments amongst students. The event provided a platform for young learners to explore, research and showcase their innovative projects on sub-topics ranging from solar cooker, rain gauge, water cycle, soil conservation harnessing wind energy and geothermal energy etc. School principal Valambal Balachandran expressed her pride and satisfaction at having budding scientists who were eager to explore research and innovate. Young students zealously showcased their project to their parents. Girls proposed the vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem.

The second Model United Nation was held at Amity International School Sec-1 Vasundhara. Students from classes VI to Xi participated in the MUN Conference. School principal Valmbal Balachandran encouraged the students to know what actually happens in the United Nations and to develop leadership abilities. There were two committees- General Assembly and All India Political Parties Meet. The agenda for General Assembly was ‘Combating terrorism’ where the delegates discussed issues related to funding of ISIL and the problems terrorism is leading to in the world today. The agenda for All India Political Parties Meet was ‘Centre State Relations’ with stress on Federal Cooperation in India. Chairperson of RBEF and Amity International Schools, Dr Amita Chauhan emphasized on the need of conducting such events from where students learn about the importance of coming together to achieve a common goal in the true spirit of the United Nations. Award was given in categories like Best Delegate, Commendation and Special Mention.

Academics and Co-Curricular winners of the session 2015-16 of Amity International School, Sec1 Vasundhara were felicitated during the annual prize distribution ceremony in the presence of chairperson Dr. Amita Chauhan over 1100 prizes and certificates were awarded to meritorious students from nursery to class 11. The various categories for prizes were- Academics Toppers, All Rounder, Subject Toppers, Amicable Personality, Creative Write in English & Hindi and Full Attendance. Ahluwalia, Senior Consultant of Sports, presided over the occasion to boost the confidence of the participants. The two days of exciting action culminated with felicitation of the champions. There was a palpable excitement in the hall when the name of the winners were announced. AIS Gurgaon sec- 46 & AIS Sec-6 Vasundhara won the gold medal in the girls and boys categories respectively. AIS Sec 1 Vasundhara bagged a Silver medal in both the categories while the bronze medal was won by AIS Mayur Vihar in both categories.
