The Youth Power team of the school titled ‘Chidiya Udd’, won the award for the Best Awareness Movie at the grand finale of the 16th Youth Power. Youth Power is a year long annual ethical leadership and social awareness competition organised under the aegis of The Global Times.
Team Chidiya Udd led by team leader Jayshree Singh (XI) along with Sharanya Dobhal, Aayaan Mukherji, Vibhuti Kundra, all from Class IX, together took to ‘Save Birds’. To protect birds and reduce accidents, stemming from indiscriminate bird feeding in public spaces, the team reached out to Mr. Vinod Tesawar, Pradesh Adhyaksh of Uttar Pradesh, to propose the designation of specific areas in Ghaziabad as ‘No Bird-Feeding Zones. The team also submitted a letter to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, for addressing key issues related to bird safety and conservation. They collaborated with Mr. Rakesh Khatri, the Nest Man of India, and crafted nests under his guidance and visited bird hospital in Chandni Chowk to gain insights into treatment and first aid for the injured birds. Issues like human activities that harm avian habits, plantation drives for planting native trees were also highlighted by the team. The event was graced by IPS Preeti Yadav, ADDL. SP (IPS) / DCP, Police Commissionerate, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF along with principals and other dignitaries of all the schools of Amity Group. The unique competition for sensitizing youth was judged by the eminent jury comprising Ms. Sumitra Goenka, entrepreneur and social activist, and Mr. Steve Rocha, Chief Visionary and Identity Leader at PRATYeK.
