The True Colours of Holi: Celebrating Values, Culture, and Character at Amity

Holi is associated most popularly with colours, laughter, and the excitement of celebrating with friends. However, when Holi is celebrated thoughtfully it becomes something far more meaningful.

As we approach Holi 2026, the celebrations at Amity International School focus not just on festive joy, but on understanding the significance and  building a deeper connection to our culture and values, the foundation on which Amity and its philosophy thrives.

The Meaning Behind the festival

At Amity International School, Holi begins with a peaceful Havan ceremony. Students and teachers gather together, creating a calm and reflective atmosphere before the festivities begin. There is a quiet sense of unity as everyone participates in the rituals associated with the Havan.

The sacred fire symbolises the burning away of negativity and the welcoming of positivity, reflecting the powerful message of Holika Dahan. Children listen carefully as they absorb the reasons behind the rituals. It therefore transforms the experience from merely a tradition to reflection on inner growth.

After the Havan, teachers share the story of Prahlad and Narasimha dev, a story of courage, faith and devotion. The story is a strong reminder of choosing kindness and believing in goodness for the greater benefit of humanity.

Through these shared moments, the strong emphasis on values at Amity are gently evoked and nurtured from time to time, making the celebrations joyful yet thoughtful.

Small Activities, Big Learning

Once the rituals of havan and storytelling are emphasised, the celebration continues with creative classroom experiences. Young children engage in colour-based games, simple crafts, and storytelling circle time activities that encourages not only their participation but also gives a creative outlet to their imagination.

The environment all around is lively and full of learning that flows naturally through play and interaction.

Celebrating More than just Colours

At Amity International School, Holi is not just about festivity, it is about building a character and community. The rituals, the stories and the shared celebrations come together to create lasting impressions and shaping one’s personality rooted in traditions.

Holi at Amity serves as a strong  reminder that festivals are not just synonymous with enjoyment but also are meant to be understood in their true essence

This Holi 2026, we wish that the true colours continue to shape courage and strong values in every young heart.
