Every year on 27th April, Amity Schools and Universities across India and across the world come together to celebrate Prerna Diwas a day of gratitude, admiration, and heartfelt tribute to the inspiring life and legacy of Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan. Through cultural performances, student expressions, creative tributes, and moments of reflection, the Amity family celebrates a leader whose vision has touched countless hearts and transformed innumerable lives.
It is called Prerna Diwas because Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan is not merely a leader she is a source of inspiration for generations of students, teachers, parents, and women across society. Through her grace, compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith in education, she has shown young minds how to dream fearlessly, grow with values, and lead with purpose.
“You are stronger than you think. Being born a woman is the greatest gift of God.” These powerful words reflect the spirit with which she has uplifted lives and encouraged countless girls and women to believe in their own strength.
As Chairperson of the Amity Group of Schools, Dr. Chauhan has helped build one of the most respected educational ecosystems in India and beyond. Under her nurturing leadership, Amity institutions have become homes of learning where excellence meets empathy, discipline meets creativity, and achievement is rooted in character. Her vision has always gone beyond marks and milestones it has been about shaping kind, confident, and responsible human beings. Her own journey was deeply influenced by her father, Late Shri Shivraj Shastri Ji, an eminent Sanskrit scholar and former Head of the Sanskrit Department at Kurukshetra University. From him, she inherited the timeless belief that education is sacred when it serves society and uplifts humanity.
This belief found beautiful expression in Amitasha, her dream initiative for the education and holistic development of underprivileged girls. Through Amitasha, countless young girls have found not only classrooms, but confidence, dignity, hope, and a brighter tomorrow. Each life transformed is a reflection of her compassionate heart.
Her vision has also given rise to many pioneering initiatives that continue to enrich the lives of students. Through the Amity Children Science Foundation, curiosity, innovation, and scientific thinking are nurtured from a very young age, making students fearless creators of the future. Young Amitians are encouraged to innovate, develop applications, secure copyrights, and even earn patents for their ideas. The Amity Education Resource Centre (AERC) strengthens academic practices while opening doors to global learning, leadership programmes, and international exchange opportunities.
Unique platforms such as The Global Times, India’s first registered weekly school newspaper, give students the confidence to express themselves and shape perspectives. Youth Power nurtures social awareness and ethical leadership. Amitranet brings parents, teachers, and school leaders closer in a shared journey of growth. The Amity Institute of Competitive Examinations prepares students for JEE, NEET, and other key entrance exams with focus and confidence, along with many more enlightening initiatives that continue to empower, inspire, and shape young minds.
In a rapidly changing world, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan remains a timeless guiding light who has always placed human values at the centre of progress. Her legacy is not confined to institutions or achievements, it lives in every child who believes in themselves, every teacher who inspires with love, every child who dares to dream, and every family whose future has been changed through education. On Prerna Diwas, the Amity family celebrates more than a remarkable leader it celebrates a motherly force of inspiration whose journey continues in every life she touches, every dream she nurtures, and every future she helps create.
