Vantika Agrawal, a distinguished alumna from the Class of 2020, of Amity International School, Noida, is the proud recipient of the illustrious Arjuna Award this year. This remarkable accolade, recognized as India’s second-highest sporting honour, celebrates her exceptional contributions to the world of chess. The award has been conferred upon her by Her Excellency President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 17, 2025.
Notably, Vantika has this year placed India and Amity on the global chess map as a member of the Indian women’s team that won the FIDE Chess Olympiad 2024 in Budapest. For her achievements she was highly praised by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of UP Shri Yogi Adityanath also. A consistent achiever, Vantika holds the esteemed titles of Woman Grandmaster and International Master.
She embarked on her chess journey at the age of eight, and credits her success to the nurturing received at Amity under the visionary leadership and guidance of Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Universe, and Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF. She aspires to become a Grandmaster and break into the world’s top ten rankings. It is notable that this is for the second time that a chess champion from Amity has been felicitated with the Arjuna Award.
Prior to Vantika, Grandmaster, Parimarjan Negi from Amity International school, Saket has also been a recipient of the prestigious award. This is indeed a remarkable feat for Amity Schools.
