As part of the Independence Day celebrations, Class V students participated in a “Newspaper from 1947” activity, exploring India’s history through primary sources and visual records from the year of Independence.
Students collected historical newspaper clippings, major headlines, stamps, currency replicas, photographs and advertisements to create creative collages and chronological journals depicting the events and atmosphere of 1947, including the freedom struggle and Partition.
The hands-on activity encouraged students to look beyond textbooks while developing research, observation, critical thinking and creative presentation skills. Students also shared fascinating historical facts, gaining a deeper appreciation of India’s journey towards independence.
