The students of Amity International School, Sector 46 Gurugram, got the golden opportunity to meet Noble Peace Prize Laureate, Mr. Kailash Satyarthi. While interacting with the students of Amity 46 , said that he has been waging a war against several social issues like -child abuse, human trafficking, child labour. About 25 students from Amity 46 along with School Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra, were part of this session. Satyarthi ji, in his interaction with a student, narrated a story from his early days when he raised issues against the practice of untouchability in his native village in M.P. He organized a lunch for upper caste in his village which was prepared by dalits had angered the upper caste to that extent that as a punishment he was asked to cook food for 106 priest and drink the water in which the priests would wash off their feet. This hurt Kailash Satyarthi to that extent that he decided to give up his surname. Kailash Sharma of M. P. was now the Kailash Satyarthi and it was a turning point in his life. Satyarthi spoke on issues like child labour and said that it’s the time when the youth of today join hands with him in his mission to eradicate this social evil. Students of Amity 46 shared with him their Youth Power project Upasththi, where they are working on issues of early drop out of girls from schools. In his dream to work for child rights and protection he is strongly supported by his wife Mrs. Sumedha. The session ended on a note where Kailash Satyarthi spoke about the importance of 3 D’s in life. He inspired the students to Dream big, Dream for others and Discover the Divinity.
