YOUTH POWER

Introduction

The annual ethical leadership programme, initiated by The Global Times-Amity’s youth newspaper, aims at grooming students as harbingers of change. Young leaders from across all Amity International Schools work on different social issues related to women, by forming teams, researching topics, designing plans of action, generating funds and finally showcasing their work in the form of a presentation at the grand finale.

2017-18

With a mission to build safe and hygienic society ‘Aarogya’ team under the mentorship of Sarita Chittal, leadership of Yajur Lath (XI) and team members Keshav Maheshwari (XI), Sahar Dua (XI) and Daksh Sachdeva (XI) took upon the cause of spreading knowledge about safe and secure disposal of medical waste and harmful effects of self-medication. For their research and innovation oriented approach the team won ‘Best Research Strategy’ award. The team in collaboration with Atal Tinkering Lab prepared fertilizer using waste medicines which was given to farmers in Tikli Village and Adara, a nursery in Nagpur. The change innovators also created Aarogya app and Healr App which sends out reminder to the user about the expiry date of the medicine and connects the user with team members also. Both the Apps are available on Google Play Store.
